ONCE UPON A TIME

“My name is Susanna, I cultivate vines and olive trees in the Chianti Classico, the wine-growing heart of Tuscany, in a property, Casole, which belongs to my family since 1600. Generation after generation the Grassi family took care of this land and these vineyards; in 2000 I wanted to gather the spiritual heritage and the passion of my ancestors and so my adventure at I Fabbri began”.

OUR HISTORY

First acquisition

1600

Casole has belonged to the Grassi family since the 1600s. The Fats were winemakers, but also blacksmiths: they owned a workshop located in the ancient village overlooking the farms that has been used for many years for agricultural activity. This is where the name of this town and of the company originates.

First sales of bottled wine

1920

Susanna's great grandfather Olinto had dedicated his life to this estate: he was a modern, far-sighted man, and in the 1920s he started selling bottled wine, which was not common at the time

First sales of grapes

1940

From Olinto the property passed to Roberto: bank manager, he loved this place very much, he looked after it with maniacal care. He decided to sell the grapes instead of the wine: a definitely profitable choice which however thwarted his father's commercial efforts.

The estate

1960

In the 1960s it was the turn of Giuliano, Susanna's father. Giuliano was a young and brilliant engineer, with a promising career in the energy field: he decided to leave abroad, where he lived, to return home and take care of the estate, but the difficulties of those years later led him to give the property in management.

I Fabbri

2000

After a few years of abandoning the estate, in 2000 Susanna created the I Fabbri company. The return to the old property, so empty but always of a disconcerting beauty, rekindled Susanna's desire to resume those values and that love for the land that had always accompanied her family. With the desire to produce typical and quality wines, bottled with their own brand, I Fabbri have thus found a new sap and a new management ``in pink``.

For years Fabbri has been following the path of sustainability, step by step: our production philosophy is shared by all those who help us in our daily work, in respect of what we believe is our style, where appearance never prevails on the 'to be.

OUR LAND

The vineyards of I Fabbri are located at an altitude between 550 and 650 meters above sea level. Part of the vineyards are rooted in beautiful centuries-old terraces, restored in 2002 and restored to their former glory. Today they represent a magnificent natural amphitheater, in the heart of the Chianti Classico, from which to enjoy a superb view of the oak and conifer woods and the sunset. The exposure of the vines is to the south, south / west: this allows the plants and grapes to enjoy the heat of the sun during the day, the same heat that is also accumulated by the dry stone walls and gradually released at night, helping the ripening of the berries. The walls, in turn, are a precious testimony of the past and of the agricultural vocation of this land. Each I Fabbri vineyard is an important chapter in its history. Each vine, each branch, contributes with its character to making the Chianti Classico de I Fabbri and its other Tuscan wines unique in their kind
